A spokesperson for HM Coastguard told the Echo: “Lymington Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to a report of a fire on a vessel at Lymington Yacht Haven on June 11.

"The alarm was raised at about 12.50pm.

"Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service also attended, and the RNLI's inshore lifeboat from Lymington was sent to support.

"Two men were taken to hospital."

The Coastguard added that one of the men aboard was in a worse condition than the other.

Speaking to media outlets yesterday, an HM Coastguard spokesperson added: “Lymington Coastguard provided first aid, safety cover and evacuation from the vessel.

“We believe it was a flash fire rather than a continuous fire – which means it started from an explosion.”
