A body has been found in a country park after a large search for a missing person.
Officers searching for 73-year-old Marcia Mitchell from Lee-on-the-Solent discovered the body of a woman in the Alver Valley area.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Marcia’s family have been informed and are being supported by police.
Officers will now prepare a file for the coroner.
A spokesperson from Hampshire police said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who shared our appeals.
"Our thoughts are with her family."
Marcia was last seen on CCTV on Headley Close, Lee-on-the-Solent at 8.42am yesterday, September 4.
She has been missing from her her home address at approximately 9.30pm on Sunday.
A widespread search was launched, with police seen scouring Alver Valley Country Park and the surrounding area.
