TWO illegal workers have been found working at a Hampshire fast food takeaway restaurant.
Immigration officials found one of the men hiding in a walk-in fridge when they raided the Golden Fry and Grill in Locks Heath.
The business’s owner now faces a fine of up to £10,000 after being served with a notice of potential liability for employing illegal workers.
Acting on intelligence, officers from the UK Border Agency’s enforcement team raided the premises on Tuesday afternoon.
After questioning staff and checking identity documents they arrested two Turkish men.
To avoid a fine, bosses at the Golden Fry and Grill must now prove they carried out the correct right-to-work checks for hiring a worker from outside the EU.
Anyone who suspects illegal workers are being employed at a business should call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Employers needing advice on what steps they need to take to ensure they don’t take on illegal workers should contact the Border Agency’s helpline on 0845 010 6677.
