RECORD-BREAKER Theo Walcott has become the darling of the St Mary's faithful - but Harry Redknapp is warning fans not to get carried away.

Walcott became the youngest ever Saints player in a competitive match when he came on as a second half sub in the 0-0 draw with Wolves on Saturday.

The Newbury lad was only 16 years and 143 days old - beating Danny Wallace's 25-year-old record by a massive 171 days. "It was a great feeling to have the crowd chanting my name," said Walcott. "I have dreamed of this moment. I feel brilliant."

Redknapp said: "He's a terrific young talent, he's got a big future. But he's 16 and it's all right people clamouring 'play him, play him, play him,' but then you do and some weeks he gets pulled all over the show and doesn't get a kick."

"You've got to pick your times to play him."
