TWO restaurant workers were attacked and robbed of more than £1,000 takings in the early hours of today.

A man punched and kicked the pair from Kuti’s in Fair Oak before running off with the money.

He struck in Dean Road, not far from the restaurant in Fair Oak Road.

The victims had cashed up and left the restaurant at around 1.15am.

The man had approached them by the junction with Stamford Way and asked for a cigarette before following them and robbing them. He ran off in the direction of Allington Lane.

The suspect is described as white, aged 20-22, between 5ft 6in to 5ft 9in and of slim to medium build, and was wearing a dark blue hooded top.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Wiseman of Eastleigh CID, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on two members of staff, one who has ended up being admitted to Southampton General Hospital with a cut to his face which required treatment.

“I am particularly keen to hear from any members of the public who were in or around the Fair Oak Road in the early hours of this morning and saw this robbery or anyone acting suspiciously in the area.”

Police are currently carrying out house to house inquiries and have put on extra patrols in the area.
