HAMPSHIRE police estimate that they will need to make savings of £21m next year and a further £11m in 2012/13.
Officials updated their savings projections after the Home Office confirmed grant cuts of nine per cent over the next two years.
Chief Constable Alex Marshall earlier warned that the force would need to axe the equivalent of 1,400 jobs – about a fifth of the force – as part of a plan to save £70m over four years.
The force had a turnover of 500 officers, office staff and PCSOs each year for the past two years.
The budget will be approved by Hampshire Police Authority on February 15.
