FIREFIGHTERS have this afternoon tackled a blaze that broke out on board a ship while it was moored at a Southampton marina.
Work was being carried out on the 25m steel crane ship which was moored at Ocean Quay in Belvidere Road when the blaze broke out.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were deployed to the scene at 12.15pm after reports a fire had started in the engine room of the 80tonne vessel that was undergoing refurbishment.
Police officers closed the road for 45 minutes while firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.
No one was injured during the incident.
