A SOUTHAMPTON man killed himself after going to a funeral and having an argument with his partner, an inquest heard.
Peter Hillier, 47, was found hanging on the stairs at his home in Carey Road, Thornhill, by his partner Kelly Anne Ford on the evening of January 29.
She tried to resuscitate him with the help of a neighbour but Mr Hillier died in hospital on February 5.
Ms Ford told the inquest Mr Hillier had returned from the funeral of a friend’s relative earlier in the day and gone to sleep on the couch.
When he woke up the two quarrelled and she went to her sister’s house, then went back to leave her dog before going to spend the night at her mum’s house.
Mr Hillier had been treated for depression before the incident and was worried about financial problems due to a flat he owned, the inquest heard.
Coroner Grahame Short recorded a verdict of suicide.
