A Hampshire couple believe they may have spotted a UFO above the New Forest.

Hordle resident Chris Hughes’ Sunday evening in front of the television was interrupted by the sighting of a floating orange light in the night sky.

He had been sat with his wife when she spotted a peardrop-shaped object through the window at around 9.45pm.

Chris, of Turners Farm Crescent, said: “I was sat on the sofa and my wife was sat by the fire with the cats enjoying a typical Sunday evening.

“Then my wife suddenly spotted something out of the window.

“I turned on the lights and saw a bright orange light in the sky.

“We went outside and it moved east towards Southampton, before disappearing as it seemed to head upwards without a sound.

“It was not a commercial aircraft as there were no port and starboard lights on it.

“I don’t know what it was but I have never seen anything like it before.”

It is the latest in a string of mysterious UFO sightings in the county’s skies.
