GREEN candidate John Spottiswoode moved to Southampton over 20 years ago.

The married father-of-four currently works as a programme manager for a local company.

He has previously set up and run two limited companies and is currently setting up another with his sons to become a '"music cooperative" on the internet owned and run by music lovers.

Mr Spottiswoode has led the campaign to stop water fluoridation in Southampton, setting up Hampshire Against Fluoridation in 2008 and was the chairman for two years. He is on the steering group of the Southampton Local Involvement Network, working to improve how NHS serves the local community.

Mr Spottiswoode has been a school governor in two Southampton schools and currently is on Southampton City Council's panel on obesity.

He has two university degrees, one in engineering and the other in social sciences. He also has diplomas in advanced nutrition, herbs plus anatomy and physiology.

He has particular interests in economics and in health. He has written two fiction books, published on lulu.com, and writes magazine articles, recently on cancer causes and issues.
