Saints winger Jason Puncheon is expected to move to Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal in time to play for the Eagles against Stoke this weekend.
The 27-year-old only recently signed a new three-year contract at Saints, but is set to been farmed out to the Premier League newcomers once the final details are confirmed.
Puncheon enjoyed a productive season last term, making 34 appearances and scoring seven goals.
However, it is apparent he does not form part of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s long-term plans, and he was not included in the squad for last Saturday’s season opener at West Brom.
Puncheon’s departure for Palace is the latest in a series of loan moves that he has made during his time at St Mary’s.
The midfielder joined Saints from MK Dons in January 2010, but fell out of favour during Nigel Adkins’ time in charge of the club.
A switch to Championship side Millwall followed, before spells at Blackpool – who were then under the leadership of current Palace boss Ian Holloway – and QPR.
Puncheon had a well-publicised falling out with Saints chairman Nicola Cortese, criticising him on Twitter in January 2012, but subsequently apologised and was welcomed back into the fold.
