Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Morgan Schneiderlin will miss Wednesday’s trip to Arsenal with a thigh injury, and the Saints boss is not yet sure how long the midfielder will be out for.
Schneiderlin was taken off at half-time during yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, at St Mary’s, and is set to undergo a scan to determine the extent of the problem.
Koeman does not yet know how serious it is, but said he will definitely not be available at the Emirates Stadium.
“No he’s not ready for Wednesday, because he needs a scan about his adductor, in his right leg,” he said.
“Then we have to wait about the result of the scan. For sure he isn’t available for this Wednesday.”
Koeman added: “We’re making a scan now to know exactly what happened.
“It’s too soon to know whether it’s serious.
“It’s not too soon to say he can’t play on Wednesday, but for how long he will be out I don’t know.”
However, Koeman did add that midfielder Jack Cork, who could come in as a direct replacement for Schneiderlin, is available after missing yesterday’s game through illness.
