JORDY Clasie says he is fit and finally ready to make his first Premier League appearance for Saints.
The midfielder, who signed in the summer from Feyenoord, has played just once for his new club due to injury.
A hamstring problem forced him out of the Europa League win over Vitesse at St Mary’s in July, before he sustained an ankle knock on his comeback for the under-21 side in August.
However, after playing an hour of a behind-closed-doors friendly away to Ajax last week, the 24-year-old Dutch international is ready to return to first-team action and is hoping he could play a part against Leicester this weekend.
“It’s up to the trainer if I play some minutes or if I’m in the squad. I hope so because I’m fit and I can’t wait,” Clasie said in an interview on Saints’ YouTube channel.
“It was an unlucky start to the season but now I hope I can show my qualities on the pitch and I can show the fans what I have.
“It was the right moment for me to play some minutes with the squad (against Ajax). I was happy that I could play after I think seven weeks.
“It was tough mentally because I’ve never been injured and then I came here to a new cub and I got two injuries. My start to the season was not so perfect, but now I’m back.
“I think it was two weeks ago I make a full session with the squad, and now my focus is on my first minutes in the first team.”
