TEENAGE striker Nick Yeomans netted his first ever senior Sholing hat-trick last night - but still finished on the losing side against Gosport Borough in the quarter-finals of the Russell Cotes Cup.
With the Boatmen trailing 4-1 early in the second half at a soggy Silverlake Arena, Yeomans hauled them back into contention at 4-3 – only for Gosport’s George Barker to net twice.
Gosport had raced into a 3-0 lead inside the first 32 minutes through Ben Harding, debutant Liam McDevitt and ex-Saint Jamie White.
Rory Williams added their fourth in the second half.
Sholing are at home again on Saturday against Lymington Town in the Sydenhams Premier Division, while Gosport head for Wealdstone on Monday in the National League South.
