GOSPORT Borough marked the lifting of their transfer embargo by signing six new players.
But it was the same old story for Alex Pike’s men whose Vanarama National League South woes deepened with a 4-1 home defeat by Hungerford Town.
Ex-Pompey striker Rowan Vine, former Eastleigh man Ramone Rose, Sam Lanahan and Richie Whittingham all started, while the two other newcomers – Harry Wedlake and Flynn Begley – were named on the bench.
But the signs were that Borough’s new-look side will take time to gel.
Trailing to goals by Manny Williams and Jon Boardman, they briefly hit back through another ex-Spitfire Ben Wright (penalty), but Nat Jarvis and former AFC Totton striker Stefan Brown sent Hungerford home with the points.
Borough remain just two points clear of the drop zone in 18th.
*Tom Killick’s 700th game in charge of Poole Town ended in a 0-0 stalemate at Eastbourne Borough, dropping the Dolphins to sixth.
