Saints will have to wait to discover if they have both, one or none of Andrew Davies and Darren Powell fit for tonight's St Mary's clash with Norwich.
The centre half pairing were both forced off injured in the FA Cup win against Bury at the weekend.
Davies had to be replaced at half-time after taking a knock on his ankle, while Powell managed to last for just over an hour before a hamstring strain forced him off.
With Claus Lundevkam and Chris Makin still sidelined it meant a reshuffle on the day that saw Jason Euell revert to a makeshift central defender.
Both Davies and Powell had looked certain to miss the visit of the Canaries tonight but after intensive treatment they will be given right up until the last minute to prove their fitness.
Caretaker boss Jason Dodd said: "We lost Andrew Davies at half-time and Darren Powell did well to go out for 15 minutes of the second half because he was struggling.
"With both centre halves going off we had to ask players to play in positions they're not used to playing and is not their preferred positions and they could have gone out there and not performed and had an excuse but they didn't.
"Jason Euell went to centre half and did a fantastic job for us and that's what you want to see.
"Andrew and Darren we'll see before the game.
"They were a no go on Saturday but both have responded fantastically to treatment so they have got a good chance."
