A Southampton pub has played host to the city’s first ever boxing press conference.

The high-energy event at The Social was an opportunity for boxers and their teams to share insights with supporters ahead of a much-anticipated fight at Switch Southampton next month.

Held by Danny Harkins, owner of The KO Boxing Company, the event was also a chance for fans to get to know the fighters who will step onto the ring for the 10th anniversary of The Punch Bunch.

In attendance at the press conference on April 22 were some of the show’s biggest headliners to date, including: world bare knuckle boxing champion, Darren ‘The Dazzler’ Hendry; former 2x world kickboxing champion and veteran of over 300 boxing matches, Mo Kargbo; his opponent, Jay “The Lion Man” Kerr, who remains unbeaten after nine fights and has recently KO’d a former opponent of Mo’s in 51 seconds.

Half of the proceeds generated from the fight on May 20 will be donated to The Chapter 8 Foundation, which supports charities supporting food banks, schools and hospitals in Southampton.

The four main beneficiaries are: Harlee’s Angels, The Cedar School, Southampton Neonatal and The Jordan Collett Memorial Boxing Fund.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Punch Bunch, Danny has raised the bar on the calibre of fighters and he’s hosting a complimentary after party event at restaurant, Papillon, on Commercial Road for everyone to attend.
