SAINTS midfielder Flynn Downes has been ruled fit to face Blackburn Rovers after missing two matches through illness.
Manager Russell Martin confirmed the 24 year old is set to return to face Rovers at St Mary's on Saturday but added: "All being well."
West Ham loanee Downes was absent for Southampton's 1-1 draws with Watford and Coventry City on the road.
He was only ruled out of action on the day of the game on both occasions but has trained both Thursday and Friday since.
Speaking about his condition ahead of the match, Martin said: "I don't think it's to do with food this time but I don't think that from the summer helped with his recovery.
"He is fine. He felt a bit better on Wednesday but wasn't fit enough for the game but he is now fine so he will be a big bonus for us, all being well."
Downes signed for Saints in August following captain James Ward-Prowse's permanent transfer to the Hammers and has become a key man.
Having played under Martin at Swansea City before earning his Premier League move, he is familiar with the manager's system and the demands on his number six.
Saints will continue to be without long-term injury absentees Ross Stewart, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Juan Larios.
The former two are set to return in January but no timeline has been distinguished for youngster Larios, who is undergoing his specialist rehab in Spain.
