SAINTS academy starlet Kami Doyle is set for a medical after pushing for a permanent transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion, the Daily Echo understands.

Doyle, 18, is understood to have expressed concerns over his senior playing time at the club he has progressed with since he was nine.

The midfielder was given his Premier League debut as a late substitute at Brighton last season following confirmation of the club's relegation.

Doyle was named on two Championship benches by Russell Martin and played 45 minutes of the EFL Cup elimination at Gillingham in August.

However, the youngster, who helped Saints to the Premier League 2 Division Two title last term, has been injured since October.

Saints will receive a sizeable fee and sell-on percentage for Doyle, who registered three goals and two assists in four under-21 games this season.

The England youth international signed his first professional contract at Saints in August 2022, as first revealed by the Daily Echo.

Doyle's exit represents a disappointing loss for the Saints academy, with the free-kick specialist tipped for a future at the club.

Following relegation from the Premier League, some of the club's youngsters expected to be involved regularly in the Championship.

Martin's side have gone 20 league matches unbeaten as they have hunted down record-breaking starts from Leicester City and Ipswich.

Under-21s Sam Amo-Ameyaw, Tyler Dibling, Cam Bragg and Jayden Meghoma all featured in the FA Cup third round victory over Walsall this month.

They could all be involved again on Sunday as Saints visit Watford's Watford Vicarage Road in the FA Cup fourth round.
