SAINTS manager Russell Martin has ruled Kyle Walker-Peters out of contention for the Sunderland fixture.
Walker-Peters missed his first minutes of the league season when he was ruled out of last Saturday's 4-3 win at Birmingham City.
The 26 year old was set to miss out on Wednesday's clash with Preston, which was later postponed due to a fire near the stadium.
Martin has confirmed the defender will not return in time to face Sunderland either, speaking ahead of the match.
Martin said: "Not for tomorrow. We have an extended break after this one and he will be back for the next one.
"We may have gotten away with it but there was no point in risking him for this one. We want him back for the rest of the run-in. So he will be out for tomorrow.
"The guys coped well without him last weekend. He is a loss because he’s a fantastic player but we have a lot of brilliant players who are ready to come in."
Taylor Harwood-Bellis and James Bree are the most likely candidates to start on the right of the back four.
Harwood-Bellis started there with Jack Stephens in central defence for Southampton's 4-3 win at Birmingham City.
