Saints will assess the damage to Richard Chaplow’s knee after he limped off just eight minutes into the defeat at Bristol City.
The midfielder, who had been a regular in the side in recent weeks, slipped on the turf and looked in pain as he was helped from the pitch.
He left Ashton Gate on crutches with his right knee in a brace and will be out at least for tomorrow’s game against Hull.
