Saints have made a move to sign Doncaster Rovers skipper Brian Stock, it was revealed tonight.
But Southampton boss Alan Pardew claimed that two clubs could not agree on a fee for the 28-year-old midfielder, pictured.
With Saints captain Dean Hammond suffering Achilles damage in today’s draw at Millwall and out for at least two weeks Pardew may well be looking to strengthen his midfield with two weeks left of the transfer window.
Stock returned to the Doncaster side today in their 2-1 Championship win over Watford after being out of action since September with an ankle injury.
Born in Winchester it is understood that Stock would welcome a move back to the south coast.
But Pardew said today that Saints would not match Doncaster’s price tag for the former Cherries star.
