A SUMPTUOUS £3m family home, designed and developed by a father and son team in Hampshire, has won the housebuilding industry's equivalent of an Oscar.

Tim and Simon Moxey, of Ringwood in the New Forest, picked up gold in the UK's best luxury house category in the Daily Telegraph's What House? Awards.

The breathtaking seaside residence in Poole, Dorset, wowed judges.

They said: "It is the most sumptuously finished and fitted house ever to be judged by the competition panel. The building should, in due time, receive listed status."

The Moxeys also won silver for best landscape design at the home, named Western House.

Their business, Forum Homes, is a small family-run development firm in Ringwood, with design work carried out in-house by chartered architects Moxey Associates.

Tim, pictured, said: "We are delighted Western House has been singled out for such lavish praise from judges at the top of their field.

"They said the whole property flows seamlessly from room to room, from interior to exterior, with the garden landscape echoing the mood of the home.

"As responsible developers, we also ensured energy conservation and sustainability were at the top of the agenda, as well as looks."

Western House, split over five levels with six bedrooms, ornamental ponds and a terraced swimming pool, is on a 1.25-acre site.
