MORE than 100,000 Hampshire and Isle of Wight residents who receive tax credits are being urged to renew well before the July 31 deadline to avoid a last-minute rush.
Claimants need to tell Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) about any changes to their circumstances.
Nick Lodge, HMRC’s director of benefits, said: “HMRC phone lines become busy as late July nears so the earlier people renew their claims the quicker and easier they will find it.”
Claimants who need help and information on tax credits should call 0345 300 3900.
