HAMPSHIRE telemarketing company Synergy Connections is kicking off the New Year by offering staff free bikes.
The Fareham-based firm, a finalist in Hampshire County Council Best Place to Work award in 2006, is encouraging workers to leave their cars at home and take the healthy option of cycling instead.
Founder and managing director Gill Curran decided to offer an added incentive by providing the bikes.
"There are so many good reasons for riding to work. It is better for the environment and helps reduce traffic congestion, but the main reason I decided on this scheme was for the benefit of the staff," said Gill.
There will be up to 15 bikes available for the 30 permanent staff, each sporting company colours and the Synergy logo.
Gill said: "At Synergy Connections we think it is important to set an example. Everyone has been very enthusiastic about this idea and we are sure it is going to take off."
Synergy, which this year celebrates a decade in business, is set to move into new premises that will accommodate up to 120 staff.
Synergy Connections provides telemarketing, market research and call handling for clients including Scottish & Southern Energy and Friends Provident.
