MOTOR giant Ford has accelerated the Nuffield Theatre's Capital Appeal with a £2,000 donation.
The cash is earmarked to help the Southampton theatre improve its services for disabled users The Nuffield, which won a Destination Southampton Award for Facilities for Disabled People in 2003, is incorporating plans for the improved access facilities into a radical redesign of its foyer and entrance this summer.
Its Capital Appeal was launched in 2005 with a target of £400,000 and aims to boost the theatre's arts support and its links with the community.
Ford plant manager Martin Chapman, pictured with Nuffield development officer Deborah Edgington, said: "Ford is a significant employer in the local area and we as a plant recognise the responsibility this brings in playing an active role in the community. I am delighted to able to make this donation to the Nuffield Theatre and look forward to seeing the real benefits it will bring in improving access to users and visitors from across the community."
