HAMPSHIRE maintenance specialist CLC has hit a six by landing half a dozen contracts worth a total of £7m in the past two months. One of the contracts is for Trent Bridge cricket ground.

It's the latest coup for the Southampton based firm, which has quadrupled in size over the last ten years.

High profile work redecorating County Hall in London is among the new contracts, as are deals to refit Indian restaurants, look after properties belonging to the London Housing Corporation.

The work adds to a list of clients that includes Butlins, Holiday Inn and Fred Olsen Cruise lines' cruise ship Boudicca - a frequent visitor to Southampton docks.

A CLC spokesman said: "The past few months have been very successful for CLC, providing us with some interesting and profitable contracts, and allowing us to take on some new challenges. The continued growth of our business means we are able to increase our workforce and take on further work up and down the country, it's very exciting for all our team throughout the UK."

CLC was founded in 1969 by Caine, Limbrick and Childerstone, whose initials make up the name, as a specialist painting contractor focusing on the maintenance sector. The founders have all since died and following a management buy-out in 1997, Peter Armitage became a major shareholder and chief executive.

Since then building and painting turnover alone has increased from £12m in 1996 to £60m in 2007.

Today it employs around 1,000 staff at 16 branches across the country, including 150 in Southampton.
