Three Hampshire branches of High Street lender Cheltenham & Gloucester are to close.

Branches in Gosport, New Milton and Waterlooville are to be axed as part of 31 closures across the UK at a cost of 340 jobs.

The biggest job losses will be among group and branch managers and further closures could follow, according to unions.

The Lloyds TSB Group Union said the move will affect 15 per cent of the total branch network of C&G, which is owned by Lloyds TSB.
