THE smart thinking of a Southampton business recovery firm has saved 35 jobs at a Dorset maintenance company.
Despite landing a major contract with waste giant Veolia, Ferndown-based MDRC group collapsed under the weight of its financial woes.
Southampton's Recovery hjs were appointed as administrators and moved to split the firm in two, selling a graffiti-cleaning arm immediately and then running a bin-refurbishing division for five months before finding a buyer for that too.
Gordon Johnston, managing director of hjs said: "We were able to divide the struggling company and offer it as two separate businesses to individual purchasers. In doing so, our recovery firm saved 35 jobs."
