COMICS, toys and books chain Forbidden Planet is to open a "megastore" in Southampton, only its third in the country.
The chain, which says Doctor Who, The Simpsons and Star Wars are all big sellers, is to move from East Street to Hanover Buildings in order to be nearer Southampton's "retail focus".
The new megastore will house more than 3,000 sq ft of science fiction, fantasy and cult entertainment.
Southampton's high student population has made the city's store one of Forbidden Planet's most successful branches.
Marketing manager Jon Harrison said: "The Southampton store has always done well. It's got a good student population and a large catchment area.
"We've been looking to expand for some time.
"The area we are in at the moment in East Street is not a strong patch and the move to Hanover Buildings puts us closer to the retail focus of the city."
The current East Street store is to remain open for Christmas and will close in the New Year, while the Hanover buildings branch is set to open in the second week of December.
