VEHICLE recovery operator Boarhunt is driving down its carbon emissions with the purchase of two new 60mpg Smart cars, which are vastly more economical than their predecessors.
Managing director Ian Mulholland admits that a few eyebrows have been raised when the compact Smart cars have pulled up alongside broken-down vehicles.
He said: "The cars are fitted-out with all the kit needed to carry out roadside repairs; they are versatile, carry a surprising amount of equipment and at the same time reduce our carbon emissions.
"The Boarhunt break-down specialists also find it a lot easier to get through narrow streets in rush-hour traffic, so we're not adding to the congestion chaos and are arriving even quicker to where we need to be."
