TIM Campbell, the first winner of hit BBC series The Apprentice, visited container terminal DP World Southampton to persuade bosses to say “you’re hired” to other apprentices.
As part of a south east campaign to highlight the benefits to both businesses, individuals and training providers, Tim is meeting employers and their apprentices in the south east.
DP World Southampton currently has eight apprentices on its books, but to date has had 40-apprentices train with them. Each year two join the company and undertake a four-year Advanced Modern Apprentice-ship in Engineering Mainten-ance to attain full combined electrical and mechanical status.
Tim, who is working in partnership with the Learning and Skills Council, said: “I’d love more organisations and established companies throughout Hampshire to open their doors to apprenticeships to get lots of young people in and feel what industries they want to go into.”
