THE APPRENTICE boss and business high flyer Sir Alan Sugar is the first buyer of Totton-based satellite navigation giant Garmin Europe’s latest product.
The former computer mogul now has a luxury private jet operation called AMS Executive Aviation, which is the first to buy Garmin’s new GPSMAP 695, a portable aviation navigation device.
News of the deal comes as Sir Alan launches the latest season of his hit TV show The Apprentice, which starts tonight on BBC1.
Sir Alan, pictured with Garmin’s European managing director Sean Biddlecombe, said: “It’s a great, easy-to-use piece of kit, ideal for keeping me aware of the roads in the sky electronically while flying around 2,000ft.”
Sean said: “We are delighted we got the job of supplying Sir Alan with the very first GPSMAP 695 in Europe. In return Sir Alan and his team of pilots will be offering feedback to Garmin’s avionic engineers on any development they would like to see in the GPS unit and future aviation products.”
