ELECTRICAL services firm Linear Electric is to be rebranded MG Linear after the Southampton-based company merged with Liverpool workspace refurbishment specialists, MG.

The deal formalises a partnership between the two companies that has seen them collaborate on major projects, including £2.5m worth of work on Southampton’s new Ikea store, pictured.

It also creates a major new UK workspace redevelopment brand with a combined turnover on course to touch £18m and offers MG a new base in the south.

Basepoint Centre-based Linear Electri-cal, whose 2007/08 turnover was £2.1m, was founded in 1998 and works on projects ranging from small electrical installations to large custom-built buildings. It has worked closely with MG for the past six years.

Linear Electrical director Darren Wyatt said: “The merger has enabled us to accelerate our growth through becoming part of a full service company that can handle any element of interior refurbishment contract, no matter the size.”

MG Chairman, Adrian Pitt, said: “With the addition of MG Linear to the MG Group, the breadth of MG’s offer is now stronger than ever and our aim is to become the UK’s largest, privately owned group of companies specialising in workspace redevelopments within five years.”
