BREWER Fuller, Smith & Turner has officially opened its £5m new Hampshire distribution centre.

Located less than a mile away from the old Gales Brewer site, the Hampshire distribution centre is the hub for Fuller’s deliveries in the region.

The decision was taken to invest in a site close to the old brewery to continue the company’s link to Horndean. These were severed when Fullers bought Gales brewery for £92m in 2005, and exported production of beers like HSB to its Chiswick base and shut the site.

Michael Turner, Chairman of Fuller’s, said: “When Fullers took the tough decision to close the Gales brewery in 2006, many people were concerned about what the future held for Horndean. But we have shown, with this major investment, how committed we are to building the business in Hampshire.
