HAMPSHIRE Indi band Kings and Castles have announced their first headline gig at Southampton Joiners later this week (Friday June 22) as they make swift strides in the music business.
Despite only getting together in 2017 frontman Ross, bassist Louis, drummer Matt and new lead guitarist Aiden, are making a big impression having signed to Tonotopic Records last September.
They headlined Heartbreakers in Hanover Buildings in January on the same day that they released their single Friday Nights and their first compilation ep Numbers, receiving rave reviews.
The band is based in Southampton and come from various areas of the county, including Southampton, Gosport and Portsmouth.
They recorded their first single "Love is the word" at Old Blacksmiths Recording Studio in Portsmouth, followed by other fan favourite "Nowhere left to hide" weeks later. Both songs were self released on all major platforms and the band's journey began.
"Love is the word" became an instant hit and was picked up by the BBC Introducing team, who were the first to play the song live on Radio Solent. The band continued building their fan base with their first summer show at Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms selling out.
The band are due to appear at numerous festivals over the summer after an impressive first year. They have recently acquired Aiden Redshaw as their new lead guitarist and have been working hard on new material with him ready to debut the new music at the Joiners.
Kings and castles have already been likened to successful bands such as Snow Patrol, The Hunna and Placebo.
Supporting them at The Joiners will be Eyes to the Skies, Marmalade Moonshine and The Bedroom Text.
Tickets are selling fast with the physical tickets selling out within a day and only online tickets are available now through the Joiners website.
The band's new merchandise will be on sale in addition to a new clothing line from Kingdom of Walls.
