Bottles of viral energy drink Prime sold out in less than half an hour after people waited hours outside a Southampton petrol station.

BP Sholing in Bursledon Road announced it would be stocking 150 bottles of the viral drink today, and donating £1 for every bottle sold to local children’s cancer charity, Abby’s Heroes.

This resulted in dozens of people queuing up outside the garage from as early as 7am.

Employee Lesley Connery said: “People queued outside to the pizza machine, and then we let them in two at a time, so it was orderly.

“People started queuing at 7am and we let them in at 9am, and by 9.25am we were sold out.”

The drinks were sold at a reasonable £2.99, less than half the usual £10 price tag seen in corner shops across the city.

Director, Simon Lawrence, said they were able to drop the price because the sale was in support of charity.

He said: “It was a nightmare trying to order them, and actually we are selling them at a loss, because it’s such a popular thing at the moment.

“But we thought we can only get 200 bottles, so why don’t we do something with it instead of just sell it.

“We could sell it at £6 or £7 a bottle, but that’s bonkers.”

Prime has gone viral since its partnership with influencers KSI and Logan Paul.

It's particularly popular among children and teenagers.

The draw of the drink had people turning up throughout the day asking for Prime, such as 11-year-old Faith White and her mum.

She said: “I’ve had it before and it’s quite nice, and it’s all over TikTok.”

Simon plans to sell more Prime next Friday to help raise more money for charity.

He said: “We are pretty close to getting more in, but this will be the last time until we can get it at a reasonable price.”
