SHAKESPEARE, cream teas, organic vegetable planting, food sampling and live music are all on the menu at a special event to celebrate the launch of The Point’s new café bar.
Being held at the Eastleigh theatre on September 27, the event will give people the opportunity to taste-test food from the new café bar as well as take part in a host of special foodthemed entertainment and activities around the venue.
In an exciting fusion of food, drink and café culture, there will be an array of stalls offering free samples and goodies from local food producers such as Cupcake Dolly, Judes Ice-cream, Hampshire Jam And Chutney, Hildon and Oven Door.
Throughout the day, bakers from award-winning Little Rose Bakery will be holding free children’s biscuit decorating workshops where kiddies and their families can create – and eat – edible masterpieces in all shapes and sizes.
Little Rose Bakery, based in Bishop’s Waltham, recently won the prestigious Best First Time Entrant national award at the 2010 Great Taste Awards held at Fortnum & Mason – so you know your little ones will be getting a masterclass in biscuit decorating with the best.
For a healthy alternative, around the theatre’s Garden Stage local organic vegetable growers Hampshire Vegetable Gardens will be giving children and families advice and hands-on planting tips to would-be Carol Kleins and Toby Bucklands.
While for afternoon cream tea with a literary twist, there will be readings of Shakespeare’s poetry plus a discussion on The Bard’s Macbeth and The Rape Of Lucrece – both being staged in The Point’s autumn season.
Live music will be played throughout the day.
The Point’s new café bar is open daily, serving a wide selection of delicious light lunches and afternoon teas.
All dishes are made from locally-sourced produce that change with the seasons.
The Point’s café bar launch event takes place on Monday, September 27 between 12pm and 5pm.
