Hotels are used by a variety of different people for a variety of different reasons. People on social trips, business trips, doing dodgy deals (like in the movies) or other naughty things (also often in a certain type of movie).
But why would animals want to stay in a hotel? Would a horse get fed up with the nagging at home? Would a tortoise need a nice place to hibernate?
I'd hate to see the tortoise's bill. He only went in there for a quick nap but ended up staying for 6 months.
But after my ridiculing of how crazy animal hotels sound, they do actually exist. If the owner is going away on holiday (maybe even to a hotel themselves) they can book their little chums into one of these places.
In My Pet Hotel 2 you get to look after other peoples fish, budgies, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, dogs and horses while their owners swan off to the Algarve (or Bognor because of the credit crunch).
The game essentially plays like a sophisticated Tamagotchi in the fact that you must see to the animals every need. You must feed them, play with them and generally take care of them; after all, I don't think that customers will accept the excuse 'Rover was dead when you booked him in'.
It's clear that this game is aimed at a younger people with a love and respect of animals, but the lack of storyline means that adults will find it hard to get drawn in. That said, the game does what it does well and is a major competitor to Nintendogs.
