Logan's back on the big screen, showing off his shiny new adamantium claws and freakishly hairy chops. Not only that but he's also on the small screen once again in the obligatory game release to compliment the movie – and this time it is actually surprisingly complimentary.
It's often thought that comic books and the things associated with them are just for kids, but it's worth noting that in Wolverine the blood runs plentiful and the violence is relentless. In fact, violence is pretty much what the game revolves around.
As well as using Wolverines adamantium claws to decapitate and kill hordes of bloodthirsty enemies, there are also opportunities to cause environmental kills which are equally as gory.
It's a fairly tried and tested format of button-bashing fused with mimicking on screen button presses. And whilst this is certainly no competition for the likes of God of War, it takes the overused and often poor genre to create a game that flows with style and finesse.
Although the framerate is choppier than Wolverines claws, the action never really stops. It's fast, it's furious and can often leave its players satisfied with every sick combo they pull off. And as the game progresses, the moves list and abilities rapidly grow, giving players something rewarding and fulfilling to work for.
So if you want to take on the role of Wolverine but can't find your own General Striker to fuse adamantium to your skeleton (they're so rare these days), you could just try out X-Men Origins: Wolverine – it's a movie tie-in that's actually quite good.
