The second review on the page this week to have a famous name included in the package, although this time you don’t get to play as the person, he has merely just put his name to it. Such a shameless endorsement - what’s next, Don King Doughnuts?
When Prizefighter was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it was pretty much beaten straight down onto the canvas, but now 2K are hoping that the Wii controls will be enough to win them a knockout title.
The career mode is played out much like the games older cousins in the fact that it’s presented in a documentary style, with managers and boxers talking about you on your rise to fame. Although much has clearly gone into making the package feel well rounded and complete, the boxing itself feels a little lifeless and empty.
Good news for owners of the Wii balance board though. It can put it to good use in Don King’s Boxing by shifting weight to make the boxer lean – a great way to enrich the gaming experience.
Unfortunately the Wii’s just not ready for this game yet – maybe after Wii Motion Plus has been released things will be different, but at the moment it’s as responsive and effective as a telephone call to BT’s Indian call centres.
