HAVING seen more than 9,000 entrants to 2012’s competition, the UK’s second-largest music search is back.
Only outnumbered by the X Factor, Open Mic UK has announced 2013 audition dates will commence in August with the Hampshire audition taking place at Ferneham Hall in Fareham on September 1.
An incredible 12,000 hopefuls are expected to take part this year in the search for the country’s best singers, song-writers, rappers and vocalists, where successful applicants are chosen to perform at some of the UK’s most prestigious live music venues, in front of a panel of industry professionals and packed audiences, at the live regional finals.
The most talented acts will then progress to the Grand Final at London’s O2 Arena.
Birdy, the schoolgirl singing sensation from Lymington, is a previous winner of the contest, judged by the likes of Ivor Novello Award Winner Mark Hill, one-half of Southampton chart toppers Artful Dodger who propelled Craig David to fame.
