SOUTHAMPTON band Forever Can Wait is to headline this year’s Hijack All-Dayer at Salisbury Arts Centre a week today.
The female-fronted rock band, which was shortlisted to play the Red Bull stage at Download Festival earlier thisyear, was topof Upstarts youth promoters’ list of people they wanted to play the festival.
Hijack All Dayer is a free annual event organised and led by young people for young people in collaboration with Salisbury Arts Centre and other local organisations.
It is the largest youth arts festival in Salisbury and a unique opportunity for young people in the area to create their perfect festival with only acts they want to see.
Long-term Upstarts member Ben Cooper said: “Forever Can Wait played an Any Louder gig at the Arts Centre before and they really got the crowd going.
“We wanted to utilise the local talent around and they were the best people to book.”
Joining Forever Can Wait in the evening line-up will be comedian and TV star Joel Dommett. Well known for his appearances on E4, MTV and Russell Howard’s Good News, Joel is one of the fastest rising stars on the UK comedy circuit.
There will also be performances by Jigsaw, Salisbury’s Youth Dance Company, Fuzzy Logic Male Dance Company, and Watford-based band The Insurgents.
Earlier on in the day there will be workshops and activities ranging from Parkour and Pottery to Dance, Theatre and Graffiti.
The event runs from noon until 10pm and is aimed at 13 to 21-yearolds. Entry is free but spaces for the evening gigs are limited, so young people are encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
