- THE Sweet Lowdown can take you anywhere you want to go, from a sunny front porch to the outer reaches of the universe.
Blending original songwriting and three-part harmonies with an old-time instrumental groove, this award-winning Canadian acoustic roots trio creates a unique yet timeless sound.
Drawn together by mutual passion for old-time music are Amanda Blied (guitar), Shanti Bremer (banjo) and Miriam Sonstenes (fiddle).
They perform at the Railway in Winchester on Thursday, supported by Andy Martin and 2CameBy.
- A FEAST of Easter folk takes place in Gosport this weekend.
Also expect skiffle, blues and shanties on Sunday and Monday.
The event features Southampton’s own Brian Hooper and other local folk favourites George Wilson, Reet Petite & Gone, Shep Woolley, The Jelly Rollers, Portsmouth Shanty Men, The Pompey Pluckers, Walker Broad and Victory Morris.
They will be joined by visiting acts including Lancashire singers Gary and Vera Aspey, Australian storyteller Martyn Wyndam-Reed, banjo king Joe Stead and award winning singer songwriter Adrian Nation.
It takes place at the Masonic Hall in Clarence Road.
