A CRITICALLY lauded folk group is performing in Portsmouth next month as they celebrate the release of their third album.
Four-piece band Porchlight Smoker, who have been praised by Radio 2 DJ Bob Harris and Radio 6 DJ Tom Robinson, will bring their high-energy brand of Americana to the Square Tower.
They play a melting pot |of folk, bluegrass and country music in their virtuoso repertoire, which mixes self-penned works with covers made very much their own.
A range of instruments, including banjo, guitar, lapsteel, stand-up bass and mandolin, and even clarinet, accompany the band’s trademark four-part vocal harmonies.
Based in the south-east, Porchlight Smoker started out as a duo in 2006 and since have expanded into the four-piece band that today play across the UK.
Doors open at the Broad Street venue at 7.15pm. For tickets call the box office on 023 9238 2888.
