AFTER its most exciting sutumn season ever, sxsc is going back to its roots for the winter 2009 series of Americana shows at the Railway Inn, Winchester.
The season kicks off on Thursday with Minnesotan singer-songwriter Ben Weaver, supported by Jane Bartholomew and Owen Tromans. Ben will be showcasing tracks from his sixth studio album Ax in the Oak, which was released to much acclaim last summer.
His approach to songwriting is not your typical verse-chorus-verse arrangements, but rather little song-stories about birds, phone booths, empty parking lots, strangers in the checkout line, plastic bags stuck in trees and other things that may go unnoticed in life.
Ben Weaver is also working on a selection of fiction writing by leading songwriters. The season continues with Elliott Brood on February 15, Peter Bruntnell and the Murder of Crows / Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo on March 10 and Kill Henry Sugar and Tali Trow on April 11.
All shows start at 8pm.
