A WORLD music star whose evocative voice has enchanted audiences from Womad to the South Bank to Sarajevo is coming to Salisbury this month.
Tea Hodzic, from Bosnia Herzegovina, is now a fixture on the increasingly lively UK Balkan music scene and she will be performing songs from her homeland and its bordering countries with a special focus on Serbian, Bosnian and gypsy songs.
Accompanied by Oliver Wilson-Dickson on violin and Luke Carver-Goss on accordion, the trio will be building on the success of the Balkan super-group Szapora.
This will be Tea Hodzic’s first solo project.
The songstress is better known for her with work with Szapora, and the Arts Centre gig follows the recent release of the group’s album Stay Awhile, and will include a performance of the album’s title track newly composed by Hodzic in a Macedonian rhythm with English words.
n Tea Hodzic Trio will perform at the Arts Centre on Wednesday, March 25. The performance will begin at 8pm and the café bar will open at 7.15pm. Tickets are priced at £13, concessions £11 and are available from the box office on 01722 321744.
This event is supported by Salisbury Arts Centre’s Business Members’ Group.
