EVEN in these tough financial times you can still put your money where your mouth is.

And as my ‘money’ is unsigned and independent acts, my proverbial mouth will be the Soul Cellar in Southampton.

Every Monday night from 7pm you’ll hear the best of my CD collection and, as our reputation grows, the latest recordings from the vast selection of talent that creates great music across our region.

As I like to say: “If it is made in the south it is made for Showcase UK.”

So rather than let these CDs languish on my shelves it is time to give a proper loud airing and the Soul Cellar is an ideal place to do this.

In fact JJ, Kevin and Rob have been very positive about getting this night started and we are all aiming to make it ‘the’ place to be heard.

For our debut this Monday we’ll naturally be playing tracks from the latest albums by Southampton acts Birdpen and Dlugokecki.

We’ll also be bringing some great new sounds from Isle of Wight remixers Boe Weaver, the synth-pop sounds of Moontown (Dorset) and Hampshire’s Scarlet Soho.

Another reason for picking the Soul Cellar was that they serve food until 9pm so early on we’ll be playing a fine mix of ambient, jazz and acoustic to suit the summer evenings ahead.

We hope you can join us because these acts might be unsigned, but they are not unloved, and are definitely worthy of a listen.
