CAMP Bestival in July will go out with a bang – and a crash and quite possibly a few flashes as organisers present their biggest ever grand finale, a huge son et lumiere extravaganza engulfing historic Lulworth Castle in a bath of sound and light.
The best pyrotechnic innovators in the UK, The World Famous, are teaming up with Rob da Bank on the wheels of steel and the English National Ballet to create an audio-visual spectacle.
Guaranteed party starters Kid Creole & The Coconuts will be doing the honours headlining the Friday night, and setting the scene for what lies ahead. Rob da Bank told Scene South: “The sun has got his hat on and I’m down at Camp Bestival HQ singing along to ‘Stool Pigeon’ and ‘Don't Take Away My Coconuts’!
“Why? Because we’ve only gone and landed Kid Creole & The Coconuts to headline Friday night at Camp Bestival.
“I booked him for Bestival a couple of years back and he smashed it with one of the tightest bands and razzle-dazzle performances ever.
SpongeBob SquarePants will delight young visitors to the festival and an on stage battle among folk acts Folk Idol is a new initiative for 2009.
There will also be a 25th anniversary screening of the Spinal Tap movie.
