WE might be living in a modern world but it’s still impossible to be in two places at once and this Saturday night I’ll be torn between two fantastic Southampton events.
All day at St Mary’s stadium Saints Aid will be providing a feast of new talent and raising money for the football club. Singing and winning I call it.
During the afternoon it goes from the ska of The Skore to the rock of Coast and ends with two great song writing acts The Rebs and Dlugokecki.
Meanwhile just around the corner at The Joiners, Birdpen headline for the first time.
This is a strangely surprising fact to many who know the band and might be due to most occasions they’ve played The Joiners people see them as the main event.
The night is also the UK launch of Birdpen’s debut album On/Off/Safety/Danger.
Available in mainland Europe since January, British fans now have an opportunity to buy the physical version which has the haunting illustrations by Southampton artist Joanne Negus.
Also on the bill are Hijera and Science of Eight Limbs.
To which do I go? A decision to take tomorrow because tonight we have another double choice in Southampton.
The Saints Aid weekend kicks off with a Santorum headlining a heavy rock night at Louisiana nightclub in Leisure World while at The King Alfred, Northam Road, there’s an all-dayer at which Melodee Rockmore is the main act.
